BIG NEWS....

As some of you may already know, it has been a lifelong dream to open my very own store.  Well, I am doing just that.

The name of my shop is COTTAGE and it will be located in Vancouver on Evergreen Blvd.  Now I realize that the name is not Brocanteur Vintage but I wanted to keep with the look of the building that I am occupying, as well as, not use the word "vintage"on, yet another, storefront.  So I decided that COTTAGE was appropriate.

My main goal is to have a shop that reflects fun and eclectic looks for the home, similar to what I sell, and will continue to, at Monticello.  The shop is 929 square feet and is perfect for this type of business.  Hopefully you will all come out and take a look, as I will be stocking the store with some rather large pieces that cannot fit into any of my other spaces.

Just as a side note, I do have a gentleman that is collecting pieces just with me in mind.  While this is very exciting, the pieces are larger than I would normally have but they are fabulous.

In closing, I have started another blog, www.cottageonevergreen.blogspot.com, that will be dedicated to what is happening at my shop with photos and pictures of new merchandise.  Please be sure to visit it often as I am very excited about this new venture in my life and I will be proud to share my new merchandise with all of you.

Sleep....it eludes me, still.

Another sleepless night.  Don't know if it's my cat vomiting again and again or is it the fabulous hot flash that never seems to let up!  I toss, I turn, heck I even sleep with my head at the foot of the bed thinking it's cooler on that end (isn't it?).  Anyone out in blogland have any remedies for this sleeplessness?  Now, I know that everyday worries creep in from time to time but this is ridiculous.  I am getting to the point where I can only sleep during the morning hours of 6 and 8 in the morning...who does that!?

Anyway, I am rambling, probably because I am tired but if you have any suggestions on how a person in their mid 50's is suppose to  survive sleepless nights over and over again, please let me know.

Designing a new show enclosure

As with all things, individuality is key.  Same thing when designing a new show enclosure for the upcoming Barn House show in July.

Those of you who know me probably saw our enclosure last year.  Draping fabric, very large umbrellas towering over our space.  Well, this year we are doing it up abit more with more umbrellas and some other little additions.  Since I am doing it alone this year, I will be in a 12 x 12 space but it will be fabulous, or at least I hope so.  Color will be used to compliment the merchandise, not overpower it.

So make sure you come to the Barn House show this coming July.

Macaroons, Macaroons..Give Me Some Macaroons

Macaroons...my latest compulsion.  I have always been fascinated with these small mouthfuls of heaven since I was in Paris.  My hotel window opened up to the store front of Laduree.  Who wouldn't have felt like they were in heaven?!

Anyway, since then, I had promised myself that I would conquer the dreaded macaroon by baking them myself.  And I did........

Even if I do say so myself, these tender morsels turned out so great that I could package them and sell them myself, but I won't.  I am going to keep baking them in all sorts of colors and flavors and enjoy them all myself.  Ah, maybe I'll share with my family :)

Hand Made and Heavenly

Gotta tell you, I love a great pair of cowboy boots.  I was going thru my boot collection today and I came across these two  pairs of boots.  They are both hand sewn and luscious.  The black pair is made by Rocket Busters and the cognac pair made by Luchesse.  Pink with stars and black with hearts, what could be better.  Being that my father was born and bred in Texas, it only goes to show that you can take the girl out of Texas but you can't take the Texas out of the girl.  Hee Haw!!!!!

Colorized Photo.......Yummmmm

I recently came across this photograph of what appears to be a young woman at her bridal gift table.  It looks so great because it has been colorized with pink.  Now not all over the place but just in a few strategic spots like her cheeks, roses and decorations.  Like I said, I found it by accident in a small store where I never thought this type of thing would be.  So, of course, I snatched it up and it will soon be in my booth at Monticello.
